THE MARKET HAS PERMANENTLY RELOCATED
As we informed everyone at our October 14th General Membership Meeting, our intention was to gather as much information as possible about the two locations available to us for the 2017 season and then allow the membership to cast their vote. But an unexpected turn of events has made moving back to our old location on East Pine not feasible.
Following is the email we received on November 10, 2016, from the owners of the parking lot market in response to our numerous attempts to reach them to discuss our being allowed to use the west side of Pine Street for our market.

“As I've discussed with your past presidents. I am unable to give a commitment for more than a single season at a time. I believe that your location on the west side of Pine street was better for all parties involved. Charlie and I have discussed this and we are dissolving our agreement with you as to the use of the 23 parking spaces on East Pine Street.”
Good luck with your future markets.
Not only are we losing more spaces to the Art Park than originally planned, but the owners of the parking lot market have made it very clear they do not intend to grant us permission to use that portion of the street. This would cut the number of spaces available for our market from the original 85 we used to have down to approximately 45-50 with no chances of ever gaining them back. After carefully looking at all the information, as your board, we have decided East Pine is no longer an option.
Heidi West, our liaison from the City, made the request to the Missoula City Council that our move to West Pine be made permanent. At their November 29th meeting, they unanimously approved the relocation. They also created a boundary restriction to prevent any competing markets from being established on public right-of-way within an approximate 300 feet of our market. This ensures that our former location on East Pine will not become a competing market.
A reminder to all of our members and guest vendors:
it has always been a market policy that vendors cannot tear down before 1:00 p.m. without specific approval from the Market Coordinator. If an emergency arises, please contact Steve to discuss the situation to see if it qualifies for early tear down. Please be considerate of your fellow artists who are working hard to make our market sucessful."
